Cedar waxwings are common throughout southern Alberta. There habitat consists of trees at the edge of wooded areas, especially near fruiting trees. Berries and sugary fruit are their main source of food with insects becoming an important part of their diet in breeding season. They are a non-territorial birds often seen in large flocks. Waxwings are attracted to the sound of running water which they love to bathe in and drink.
